Our Preacher

Brother Jeff Hicks was confirmed on August 2nd, 2026, as the new pastor of Excelsior Baptist Church. He's from Dickson, Tennessee. He and his wife of 47 years were high school sweethearts. After a four-year tour in the Navy, they settled in their hometown. After coming to faith in Jesus Christ as young adults, they were happy serving the Lord in their local church and making a living. But God had bigger and better plans. Sensing God's call to preach, he immediately moved his family to Memphis, Tennessee, to begin theological training. He has since graduated from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee. He and Linda now have eight grandchildren and have served in churches in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. He and Linda are excited to serve the Lord at Excelsior Baptist Church, which they consider a down-to-earth country church with a great multigenerational church family.

One of his favorite bible verses comes from

Proverbs 3:5:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine understanding"
